Career Guidance

From 1 January 2011, a National Unit for Career Guidance will be established in Vox, by mandate from the Ministry of Education and Research.
The Unit will work to improve the quality and professional standards of career guidance and contribute to strengthening cooperation and coordination nationally.

Career guidance is provided at all levels of the education sector and local branches of the Labour and Welfare Administration. There are regional partnerships for career guidance in all the 19 counties in Norway. The need for national coordination and overarching guidelines is the basis for establishing this unit in Vox. One important task will be to establish networks with important stakeholders in the field.

The need for a national unit is expressed in several White Papers, which state that improving the system for career guidance and making it more accessible are important goals, and that national coordination is necessary to achieve the intended results.
