Vox works to improve the overall knowledge on adult learning in Norway, and to spread this information to relevant stakeholders and policy makers.
To do this, Vox focuses in particular on:
Gathering and publishing data and statistics on adult learning
Data describing the demand for and the participation in adult learning in Norway are collected and administered by various institutions. Statistics Norway is the most important source of information on education in Norway, including adult learning. In addition, several other data sources and statistics that cover both formal and non-formal education are obtainable. To make this information more accessible, Vox compiles and publishes the most essential statistics in an annual statistics report, The Vox Mirror. A broader collection of data is found in the Vox Statistics Bank (Norwegian language), which is regularly updated throughout the year as new data becomes available.
The Statistics Bank is only available in Norwegian language, but key statistics in English language are made available upon request. Requests concerning specific statistics should be directed to email@example.com. Among others, statistics concerning the following types of education and training may be made available:
- Participation in Norwegian and social studies for adult immigrants, as well as results from Norwegian language tests.
- Adult participation in all types of formal education, from primary to higher education, as well as the level of participation in education and training in working life and in various types of education associations.
- Participation in education and training offered by the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Organization (Nav) and the correctional services.
- Statistics concerning applications and participation in Vox' Program for Basic competence in Working Life (BCWL) may also be made available.
Developing new knowledge on adult learning
Our research department carries out quantitative and qualitative research and provides analysis of areas concerning adult learning. Our own, as well as relevant publications by other institutions can be found in our publications database. Publications are primarily in Norwegian, but some translations, fact sheets and summaries are also available in English.
